Who Am I?
My name is Regina
Ramirez. I go by either Gina or Naji. I was born in the year 1995. My major
here in LMC is Business Accounting, and I want to transfer maybe in the State University
of East Bay or San Francisco to become an English as a Second Language
instructor.
My Educational Background
I graduated high school in a Catholic private school in the
Philippines in the age of 16. Our educational system then has not adopted the K+12
curriculum.
I have 3 years college experience in a state university in the
Philippines. I majored in Criminal Justice and minored on Legal Management
which is broken down in two prongs: Law and Accounting.
My
Family
I was born and raised in the Philippines. I lived there for 20
years. My parents and my younger brother moved in Oxnard, California on September
2015. Then we moved here in Antioch on July 2016. I have 2 sisters and 3
brothers. My 2 other brothers are still in Philippines, my older sister is in New
Zealand, and my younger sister is in Heaven.
My Work
I am a peer tutor at Los Medanos College in the Business
Department. I mostly tutor BUS-18 which is Microsoft Excel, and BUS-186 which
is Financial Accounting.
My Hobbies/Interest
I am a fan of Japanese entertainment mostly the all-girl rock
band named Scandal, and the all-boy pop group named Hey! Say! JUMP. I also like
One OK Rock, Back Number, and Super Beaver, and occasionally listen to Kyary Pamyu
Pamyu. I watch anime and read manga. I am currently reading One Piece, Boku no
Hero Academia, and Noragami. My favorite anime are Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yuugi,
One Piece, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
For
games, I play the Japanese version of Love! Live! School Idol Festival, and my
best girl is Nozomi for µ's, and Kanan for Aqours. Pokemon in 3DS and Harvest
Moon in Switch.
I
like Harry Potter (read the books, watched the movies). Some shows that I also
like are The Office, Friends, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, Bob’s Burgers, and
We Bare Bears.
Hi, Regina! I opened your profile at random and was surprised when a Sailor Moon character appeared in front of me. I haven't met people who like animes yet. Here, at Los Medanos, I mean.
ReplyDeleteI also like to watch animes, it's like a big hobby of mine. It's just sad that we don't have that much time when classes start. I noticed that I've heard about all of those animes you listed, but the only one that I'm actually watching is My Hero Academia. I'm still watching the second season, but I'm loving it so much!! And you also like Harry Potter, which is amazing! I'm a Ravenclaw. What house do you belong to?
By the way, I found it interesting that you are a tutor and were born in the Philipines. I mean, I thought I was the only student in this class that wasn't born here in the US.
I hope we'll get along during the semester!
Welcome Regina, I see you are still kind of new to the United States. That is great that you attended 3 years of college in the Philippines. How do you compare college in the Philippines from college here in America? Is college harder here or there? Also, do you like living here in the East Bay better than living in Southern California? I personally like the Los Angeles area a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi Regina! It sounds like we have similar tastes in some of the shows you watch. I am also a big fan of The Office, and Friends (classic). Harry Potter is still my favorite book series as well even after all this time. I liked the movies, but enjoy the books much more. I've read them all several times thus far. I was never big on anime but both of my brothers were huge fans and now my daughter is as well.
ReplyDeleteHello Regina, you have a good plan of your future and I hope you can get into the school of your choice after LMC. I think it is pretty cool you were born in the Philippines and grew up there for 20 years. I have never been but that would be a cool place to go visit. I have never heard of the games you like or the band you follow, but that sounds pretty cool. Keep working and you will be able to be successful in whatever you choose in life.
ReplyDeleteHi Regina, its cool that we have a lot of the same interest. I remember growing up and watching Sailor Moon with my cousins and I also like friends which is a classic as well as criminal minds and Harry Potter. It is also cool that you are from the Philippines and that you know where you want to go after LMC.
ReplyDeleteHi Regina! Its crazy on how you could spend a few years majoring in one subject then find out that you want to do something else instead. It's cool that you finally found out what you want to do now and I feel like you could really help kids learn the English language. Good luck!
